ART TOYS COLOMBIA

Munny, pronounced [muhn-ee], is the greatest Do-It-Yourself toy ever known. This action figure has become popular among designers and artists, rather than children, and day by day is considered an artistic expression. The original toy is made of vinyl; white, 7 inches tall and movable joints, having, over the years, evolved into whole new looks that include random accessories and colors. A Munny owner can decorate it with pens, pencils, markers, paints, or whatever the human mind could ever imagine; clips, nails, ketchup, coins…

Munny art has come to Colombia through the past few years and it is now when it is reaching fame among citizens. Espacio Itinerante, a local foundation by and for artists has opened the wonderful space for ART TOYS COLOMBIA, an exposition that began in 2008 in the design center of Portobello, gathering 70 artistic works, and now reaching El Retiro, the scenery for the seventy little men throughout March.

The exposition presents true pieces of art sculpted, painted, and assembled by national artists like David Manzur, Gastón Betelli, Nadín Ospina, Elma Pignalosa and Germán Tessarolo. The money raised with the pieces sold is to go to Espacio Itinerante, whose purpose is to support several academic activities for talented Colombian artists with limited economic resources.
The exhibition is not only a space for inspiration, astonishment or pure art, it is the opportunity to find unique pieces, to help young Colombian talent, and to get inspired and enter the amazingly wide world of Munny.
